About Us

Anne Arundel Cares, Inc. was incorporated in February, 2012 to help raise money for nonprofit organizations in Anne Arundel County.  Over the last five years, many of these nonprofits have seen their revenues reduced dramatically due to a recession-induced drop in individual donations and/or cuts in government funding.  For example, Anne Arundel County funding for local nonprofits has decreased from $4.88 million in 2007 to less than $1.0 million today.  In many cases, these funding cuts have dovetailed with a substantial increase in the needs of the populations they are serving.  As a result, many of these nonprofits have had to cut staff to keep their doors open and few are able to afford to hire experienced marketing help.

All donations that are raised on the Anne Arundel Cares website go directly to the nonprofit for which they are designated.  The donations are processed by Razoo.com, which forwards the donations less a 4.9% merchant processing fee directly to the designated non-profit on the 10th of the following month.   All donations made via the website are fully tax-deductible, and you will receive an immediate email receipt from Razoo.   If you wish to donate by check, please do so directly to the nonprofit you wish to support.

Anne Arundel Cares’ founder, Joanna Conti, funded the organization’s start-up with a $5,000 donation. Sponsors are asked to donate $5,000 to $10,000 to Anne Arundel Cares per year, half of which is provided to nonprofits via challenge grants.  The other half of each sponsorship covers marketing and administrative costs of the organization.  Anne Arundel Cares, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
